DOLLY PARTON’S IMAGINATION LIBRARY LAUNCHES IN ADAMS COUNTY!

United Way of Adams County is proud to join Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in inspiring a love of reading in our children birth to age five with FREE books!

United Way of Adams County is teaming up with Dolly Parton to bring her imagination library program to Adams County! The United Way will launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Adams County with a special event on Saturday morning, September 7th, at the Quincy Public Library from 10 AM – Noon! Children whose parents enroll them with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will receive one new, age-appropriate book in the mail each month from birth until the child’s fifth birthday at no cost to the family, creating a personal library of as many as 60 books that can help form the foundation of a child’s early reading experience.

In 1995, Dolly launched her Imagination Library in honor of her father, who could not read or write so that no child would ever grow up not being able to read. Today, the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, is an international book- gifting program that operates in five countries, gifts over 3 million books each month and has gifted over 240 million books since inception.

“We’re excited that DPIL provides quality literature every month for every single registered child in Adams County from birth through age five” said Jenna Hull, Executive Director at United Way of Adams County.  “The research is clear, childhood literacy is dependent on early and sustained exposure to books and reading.”

Adams County residents interested in learning more about registering for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library should or visit https://www.unitedwayadamsco.org/ or contact United Way of Adams County at 217-222-5020.

About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has gifted over 250 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Republic of Ireland. This is achieved through funding shared by The Dollywood Foundation and Local Community and State Partners.

The Imagination Library mails more than 3 million high-quality, age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes each month. Each child enrolled in the program receives one book per month from birth to age five - at no cost to families.  Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring children to Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More.

The program’s impact has been widely researched, and results demonstrate its positive impact on early childhood development and literacy skills. Penguin Random House is the exclusive publisher of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. For more information, please visit www.imaginationlibrary.com.
